Muscle pain is extremely common and can involve ligaments, tendons, and soft connective tissue. There are multiple causes of muscle pain and it is important to identify the cause of the problem in order to effectively treat it. The most common cause is usually related to tension caused by overuse, injury from exercise or physically demanding work. These causes will be obvious as soon as they occur, however some other causes are less apparent.
Some less common causes of muscle pain include:
- Dermatomyositis – a connective tissue disease which causes muscle inflammation
- Electrolyte imbalances – for example too little potassium or calcium
- Fibromyalgia – a condition which causes includes tenderness in your muscles and surrounding soft tissue, sleep difficulties, fatigue and headaches
- Infections, including the common flu – usually causing muscle ache over the entire body
- Lupus – a poorly understood autoimmune condition which will cause muscle pain amongst a variety of other symptoms
My therapy treats muscular pain by addressing the root of the problem, removing the pain and allowing normality to be restored. The treatments involve no manipulation, are suitable for all ages, and can be carried out through light clothing if preferred by the client.
Clients generally notice a significant difference after their first treatment. It is not unusual for clients to be completely free of their problem after only two visits.
